How far do you have to travel from London to a reach a darker skies to see the Milky Way?
You could leave London and arrive at a darker skies location within 2 hours by using the city’s ThamesLink service and we want you to join us for our south east England astrophotography workshop that focuses on Milky Way / landscape astrophotography.
Photography Tours At Night have been offering Milky Way photography workshops for over 5 years both nationally and internationally and what we have learnt about Astrophotography in the UK is we need to be flexible with locations, patience for clouds to clear and lucky as we need a clear night sky. So this makes planning and completing workshops technically but we do love a challenge and astrophotography is just that but with our tutor on hand to assist you, we do all of the planning so you can enjoy the experience.
Unfortunately we cannot tell you where we will be going as we have to study the weather on the days leading up to the workshop to see where will be clear but we will email the group with information on meeting point and we are planning our workshops around the last and first trains times so you can drive or take the train to join us for this experience.

Please also note that southeast light pollution is quite bad so this means the Milky Way is not as bright as it would seem in places like the Sahara desert. However, as many areas now turn of lights at around 12am which allows for a better chance so unfortunately this workshops starts at a we have traveled to the darkest parts we could find to see what is around and due to the nature of this tour is non-refundable if we fail to see the Milky Way on the night due to weather-related reasons but you will be offered another date. If we have to cancel before the tour for weather-related reasons you will be offered a new date. Please also note.
